60 Parties Want to Run in Polls

Sixty political parities have applied to the Central Election Commission (CEC) to run in the May 21 parliamentary elections. The deadline for the submission of the necessary papers expired on Wednesday evening, March 26.

The ruling party and all key opposition parties are among the 69. The ruling party said it would run in the elections under the name United National Movement for Victorious Georgia.

Parties without sitting MPs must also submit the signatures of at least 30,000 supporters to the CEC by April 1.
