Probe Reveals Misuse of Grant Funds by MoD

The Chamber of Control, which is the main governmental watchdog agency, examined use of the foreign grants by the Georgian Ministry of Defense in 2000-2002.

Chairman of the Chamber of Control Sulkhan Molashvili said that the probes revealed serous violations; however he refrained from making any detailed comment. He said that the result of the examination ?is the top secret document.?

At a news briefing on September 16 Defense Minister Davit Tevzadze said ?he has no doubts over the objectivity of the probe results.?

The Defense Minister blamed ?poor accounting system in the ministry for the violations in use of grant funds.?
