A Criminal Threatens Government With War

Vepkhia Khangoshvili, well-known criminal and warlord from Georgia’s Pankisi gorge threatened the government with launching the war in Pankisi in case his wife, Lydia Saltaeva is not freed. Saltaeva disappeared a couple of days ago in Tbilisi. The Ministry of Internal Affairs stated today that police did not arrest or detain Khangoshvili’s wife Lydia Saltaeva.

Khangoshvili is associated with kidnappings in Pankisi gorge. He is also allegedly linked with the most recent abduction of Aziz Khalilov on October 4.

A warrant on Khangoshvili’s arrest has been issued since 1992.
