Russia Pulled Out Only Scrap Metal From Gudauta Military Base?

Russia withdrew only unnecessary scrap metal from Gudauta base in Georgia’s breakaway region of Abkhazia; Russian military equipment and the contingent still remain in the Base, spokesman of Georgian Foreign Affairs Ministry Kakha Sikharulidze stated on October 28.

On October 27 representatives of Russian Defense Ministry reported that they withdrew military base from Gudauta base, thus fulfilled the OSCE Istanbul summit agreement. Russia agreed to withdraw from the old Soviet base in Gudauta in 1999 but missed the July 1 deadline.
