Abducted Spanish Businessmen Released
(Tbilisi. December 9. Civil Georgia) – Two kidnapped Spaniard businessmen were released on December 8. The Georgian State Security Minister Valeri Khaburdzania stated that kidnappers left them near Telavi, eastern Georgia. The Minister did not say any other details of the case. Spanish citizens’ are in Tbilisi at the moment.
Kidnappers demanded ransom from the relatives of kidnapped Jose Antonio Treminio and Francisco Rodriguez. Couple of months ago reports said that the relatives paid ransom but the criminals demanded additional amount of money.
Jose Antonio Treminio and Francisco Rodriguez were abducted on November 30, 2000 from Tbilisi. According to the Internal Affairs Ministry kidnappers detained businessmen in Pankisi gorge, mountainous region in eastern Georgia.
