Georgian Tobacco Factory Threatens to Stop Production
(Tbilisi, January 24, Civil Georgia) – On January 24 Georgian Tobacco Production Company terminates production of “Pirveli” and “Patriot” cigarettes. The company founders say heavy tax burden is the reason for their decision.
The company representatives state, that 320 workers of the factory and 680 personnel of the distributing network will lose their jobs if the factory quits production.
Georgian entrepreneurs lobby against the new regulations on high tar and nicotine contents. As well as demand amendments in the tax code. The Parliamentary faction Industrialists represents their interests in the Parliament.
