Georgian-Russian Military Talks Made no Progress Concerning Gudauta Base
(Tbilisi, February 5, Civil Georgia) – Georgia demands an appropriate degree of transparency to ensure that the Russia pulled out its military hardware base at Gudauta.
Georgian and Russian military talks held in Tbilisi, Georgian capital on February 1-2. Russia is against international observation of the Gudauta base in breakaway region of Abkhazia and claims that all the military hardware is pulled out from the base.
According to the agreement of the 1999 OSCE Istanbul summit, Russia was to withdraw its military base form Gudauta in breakaway Republic of Abkhazia by July 1, 2001.
