Russian Envoy Met Georgian MFA Official

(Tbilisi, March 29, Civil Georgia) – Russian ambassador to Georgia Vladimer Gudev met Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Giga Burduli on March 29.

Georgian official handed over protest note to the Russian envoy concerning the Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov’s statement that US deployment will delay Russian bases’ withdrawal from Georgia.

Georgian Foreign Minister Irakli Menagarishvili said at the news briefing on March 29, that Russia should comply with its commitment to close its military bases in Georgia as the agreement of 1999 Istanbul OSCE summit states.

“Georgia demands official explanation from Russia concerning the Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov’s statement,” Menagarishvili stated.
