Speaker Says Some Forces Try to Hinder Parliamentary Session on Local Elections
(Tbilisi, April 4, Civil Georgia) – “I have information that some political forces try to hinder discussion of the bill on the local self-governance elections in the Parliament,” Nino Burjanadze, Parliamentary Chairperson stated at the Parliament’s session on April 4.
Burjanadze did not specify which political factions are interested in hindering of discussion.
Parliament discusses amendments on law on local self-governance elections on April 4.
There is no absolute agreement between MPs concerning the issue. The most of the factions agree that the city mayors and heads of provincial districts should be elected.
Only the pro-Presidential factions are against of this principle.
