Shevardnadze to Arrive in Kodori
Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze will arrive in Kodori gorge on April 12, press-service of State Chancellery reports.
Shevardnadze’s sudden decision is caused by the Russian peacekeepers’ deployment in Kodori gorge, the only part of breakaway Abkhazia controlled by the Georgian government.
Dispatching of Russian troops to Kodori on April 12 caused panic in the local Georgian population.
Georgian officials say Russians did not notify them about the intention. Georgian MPs consider the Russian move as an aggression against Georgia.
