New Representative of the UN Secretary General in Georgia

(Tbilisi, May 24, Civil Georgia) – Heidi Tagliavini will suceed Dieter Boden on the position of Representative of the UN Secretary General in Georgia. The decision has been take by UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.

Tagliavini has a substantial experience in diplomacy and is well aware of the Caucasus region.

She served as a deputy head of the UN mission in Georgia in 1998-1999 and as a personal representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-the-Office for the Caucasus in 2000-2001.

Heidi Tagliavini is from Switzerland and has worked in Swiss embassies in Moscow and the Hague. Her last posting was as a Swiss Ambassador to Bosnia-Herzogovina.
