Russian Gas Company Holds Talks with Georgian Officials

(Tbilisi, May 29, Civil Georgia) – Russia’s second largest gas producer ITERA holds talks in Tbilisi concerning Georgia’s debt to the company.

On May 29 head of the Fuel and Energy Department of the ITERA Mikhail Potapenko meets Georgian Finance Minister Mirian Gogiashvili and hold talks in the State Chancellery [Georgian President’s administration].

Georgia’s debt to the company in 2002 is 10 million Lari [approximately USD 5 million].

ITERA claims that since 1996 up to now Georgian debt to the company consisted 90 million Lari.

Russian company is the only supplier of gas to Georgia. The debt is the reason of frequent cessation of the gas supply to the Georgia capital Tbilisi.
