Zhvania Wishes Success to CUG
(Tbilisi, July 1, Civil Georgia) – Leader of the United Democrats party Zurab Zhvania states that the attempt of the Citizens’ Union of Georgia (CUG) to revive very much looks like that of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union time.
“I wish success to the Citizens’ Union, but I doubt it will succeed in the political activity, as the party is united not around the idea but around the government,” Zhvania said at the news briefing on July 1.
The CUG assembly on June 29 elected State Minister Avtandil Jorbenadze on the post of the party Chairman. At the assembly President Shevardnadze stated that the main goal of the party should be to win the Parliamentary and Presidential elections.
