MPs Advise President to Be Prudent While Appointing Local Officials

(Tbilisi, July 2, Civil Georgia) – At the Parliamentary special session on July 2 the most of the factions, especially the opposition expressed concern regarding the way of appointing heads of the provincial districts.

Representatives of the Revival bloc, Democrats, Movement for Democratic Reforms factions stated at the session that the President appoints the local officials only with the recommendation of the local governors, that in the most of the cases, causes protest of the local population (in Khobi, Abasha districts, western Georgia).

MPs Valeri Gelbakhiani, from Revival bloc stated that the Parliament should recommend the President to be more precise and careful while appointing local officials.
