Georgian Airspace Violation Reported

(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, August 14, 2002) – Georgian Border Guard Department reports that the SU-25 fighter jet violated the Georgian airspace from the Russian side on August 14.

SU-25 entered over Shatili, eastern mountainous part of Georgia, near the border with the Russian Federation and returned to Russian airspace.

Georgian side blames Russia for frequent air violations. For several times such air violations were followed with the bombardment of the Georgian territories. Russia constantly dismisses accusations.
