Georgian Officer Kidnapped in Breakaway Region

(Tbilisi, Civil Georgia, August 16, 2002) – Zurab Durglishvili, Vice Colonel of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces in the Georgian-Ossetian conflict zone, was abducted near Tskhinvali, main town of breakaway South Ossetia on August 16.

Georgian Defense Ministry reports that the kidnappers opened fire to Turkvishvili’s car and than abducted him. Other details of the case are unknown so far.
