Russia Calls Its Citizens for Taking Security Measures in Georgia
(Tbilisi, September 10, 2002, Civil Georgia) – Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry (MFA) issued a state on September 10 concerning “the deteriorated criminal situation in Georgia.”
“Recently some foreign citizens, including Russians, were violently attacked in Georgia. Some of them kidnapped for ransom. Regarding this MFA recommends the Russian citizens being in Georgia to take the measures for personal security,” the Russian MFA statement says.
The Russian officer, employee of the Group of Russian Troops in Trans Caucasus (headquarters in Tbilisi) Colonel Zaetsev was murdered in Tbilisi early in August. Later Georgian law enforcers arrested murderer suspect, former employee of the Group of Russian Troops in Trans Caucasus.
