Opposition Against Draft of Structural Changes of the Government

(Tbilisi, December 26, 2002. Civil Georgia) – Parliamentary opposition claims there is no hope for better changes in the condition of the existing government, thus it would not support the draft law on structural changes of the executive government.

The draft considers cancellation of the Ministries of Construction and Urbanization and State Property Management.

“The government states that the changes would increase the effectiveness of the executive government, but I do not trust the authorities,” Giorgi Baramidze of United Democrats stated at the Parliamentary session today.

“The government should be changed and only then there will be reason for structural changes of the ministries,” Jemal Gogitidze of Revival faction stated.

The Movement for Democratic Reforms, Traditionalists and XXI Century also refused to support the draft law.
