Experts Assess Impact of Oil Leak in Western Georgia
(Tbilisi, January 29, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Experts from the Ministry of Protection of Natural Resources and Environment examine the scale of impact on environment caused with the spill of oil in western Georgian village of Vazisubani.
Three cisterns of oil have fallen this night from the bridge into Khevistskali river as train derailed near Vazisubani village of Samtredia district.
Georgian State Security Ministry did not confirm so far the fact of explosion of the bridge. While Head of the Georgian State Department of Railway Akaki Chkheidze said that that the blast of the bridge was the reason of the train derail.
The Ministry of Protection of Natural Resources and Environment reports that the result of assessment will be known in two days.
