Bush Lists Georgia Among Targets of Terrorists
(Tbilisi February 7, 2003. Civil Georgia) – “We know that Iraq is harboring a terrorist network, headed by a senior al Qaeda terrorist planner,” US President George W. Bush stated on February 6 saying that he welcomes the UN Security Council resolution on Iraqi disarmament, but he added that the resolution must be accompanied by resolve.
US President said “the same network has plotted terrorism against France, Spain, Italy, Germany, the Republic of Georgia, and Russia, and was caught producing poisons in London. The danger Saddam Hussein poses reaches across the world.”
US Secretary of State Colin Powell addressing the UN Security Council said on February 5 al Qaeda high-level operative al Zarqawi has created the terrorist network in Europe, with one of the cells in Pankisi gorge of Georgia.
“We know that Zarqawi’s colleagues have been active in the Pankisi gorge, Georgia, and in Chechnya, Russia. The plotting to which they are linked is not mere chatter. Members of Zarqawi’s network say their goal was to kill Russians with toxins,” Powell stated
