Special Commission to Work on Election Code

(Tbilisi February 10, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Georgian President issued a decree on creation of the special commission to work out the proposals on new Election Code.

According to the Presidential decree representatives of the political parties, NGOs and executive government will compose the special commission.

“Conduction of the fair and democratic Parliamentary elections [this autumn], should be the top priority for us,” Shevardnadze said in his Monday radiobroadcast on February 10.

He said that all the political groups are welcome to present their proposals regarding the new Election Code, “which should be drafted on the bases of the consensus.”
