Georgia to Probe Vessels en Route to Abkhazia

(Tbilisi. March 7, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Georgia will intercept and inspect ships bound for breakaway Abkhaz ports in order to prevent trafficking in weapons and drugs.

The issue will be discussed at the meeting of the Georgian National Security Council in the nearest days.

?Georgian side controls the navigation in Abkhazia, but the control should be strengthened and improved,? Eka Dondua, Spokesperson for the State Border Guard Department, told Civil Georgia on March 7.
