MPs Reject Draft on VAT Exemptions for Electricity

(Tbilisi. March 11, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Parliamentary session declined today proposal of the opposition factions to launch discussion of the draft considering exemptions from the Value Added Tax (VAT) for electricity.

The opposition United Democrats and the Movement for the Democratic Reforms factions claimed that the cancellation of the VAT on electricity would help to reduce electricity tax.

While the pro-governmental factions claimed that the implementation of the proposal would reduce budgetary revenues.
