Voting on US-Georgian Military Accord Failed due to Lack of Quorum

(Tbilisi. March 18, 2003. Civil Georgia) – During the consultations the Parliamentary opposition and the government agreed to postpone discussion of the increase of the minimal salary issue and ratify US-Georgian defense agreement.

But the Parliament failed to vote regarding the US-Georgian military agreement because of the absence of quorum.

According to the agreement, the US government can occupy mutually agreed territories and buildings in Georgia for use by the US administration’s civilian and military personnel, transport vehicles, vessels and aircraft.
