US Says No Change in Support for BTC
(Tbilisi. March 27, 2003. Civil Georgia) – The US State Department’s Caspian adviser, Steven Mann said there will be no change in US support for the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline despite US-Turkish disagreements over Iraq.
“The pipeline projects have a certain fundamental logic to them that I don’t believe will be affected by any events outside the Caspian,” Mann said in an interview with RFE/RL.
But Mann emphasized that it is vital to keep the projects competitive because the return of Iraqi oil to the market after the war could affect the race for investment funds.
