Abkhazia Concerned Over Possible Involvement of US in Conflict Resolution
(Tbilisi. April 3, 2003. Civil Georgia) – President of Georgia’s breakaway Abkhazia Vladislav Ardzinba expressed protest regarding the increased support of the United States towards Georgia and possible involvement of the US in the Abkhazian conflict resolution.
“We are sure that Russia is the only guarantee of the stability in the region and hope Moscow will take all the measures to prevent renewal of the conflict in the region,” Vladislav Ardzinba said according to the Russian news agency Itar-Tass.
On March 20 Georgian President Shevardnadze said “the Americans told us to give them some time and then they would deal with the Abkhazian issue as well.”
