Halo Trust Robbed in Abkhazia

(Tbilisi. April 17, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Two members of a British based humanitarian group Halo Trust, which removes land mines, were robbed in the Georgia?s breakaway Abkhazia.

Breakaway Abkhazia?s police say the robbers took up to USD 95.000.

The Halo Trust staff was in a car when four masked armed men stopped them and forced them to drive to another location, where they were robbed.

With over 340 local staff employed, Halo Trust deploys integrated manual and mechanical mineclearance teams, mines-awareness teams, and survey and mine-marking teams based in Sukhumi, Ochamchire and Gali.
