Saakashvili Criticized Opposition MPs for Supporting Free Trade Zone

(Tbilisi. April 24, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Chairman of the Tbilisi City Council and the leader of the opposition National Movement Mikheil Saakashvili criticized those opposition MPs, which supported today the draft law on free trade zones.

The Parliament rejected today the draft law on free trade zones proposed by the Revival faction and lobbied by the leader of Adjarian Autonomous Republic Aslan Abashidze, despite support of the opposition Parliamentary factions, including the United Democrats, led by Zurab Zhvania and Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze.

?Nino Burjanadze and other my friends in the Parliament were misled,? Mikheil Saakashvili said.

Saakashvili claims that the creation of the free trade zones in Georgia would lead to the country?s disintegration, which ?is the joint plan of Shevardnadze and Abashidze.?
