National Movement Leader Demands International Organizations to be Represented in CEC
(Tbilisi, May 6, 2003. Civil Georgia) – Mikheil Saakashvili, leader of the National Movement and chairman of the Tbilisi City Council, demands inclusion of representatives of the inetrnational organizations in the Central Election Commission, to ensure democratic conduction of the Parliamentary elections.
He suggests inclusion of the OSCE and CoE representatives. These members should be appointed by the parties, which have cleared 4% barrier in the last elections.
Saakashvili is holding negotiations with the foreign ambassadors and other opposition parties regarding this initiative.
Saakashvili called meetings at the Industialists office, regarding the rules of CEC composition a mascarade, saying that the sides would never reach a consensus.
