Georgia Guarantees Security of Gazprom Employees

Georgian State Security Minister Valeri Khaburdzania, who visited Moscow on August 27-28, met with the Russian energy giant Gazprom representatives.

Khaburdzania said after the meeting that Gazprom, which signed an agreement for strategic cooperation with Georgia last month, is concerned with the statements of some Georgian politicians criticizing the deal and demanding to cancel a contract.

?I said to Gazprom representatives that statements of our politicians do not mean that their employees would be under danger in Georgia,? Valeri Khaburdzania said.

Former Energy Minister of Georgia Davit Mirtskhulava, who signed the agreement with Gazprom, also met with the Russian company?s representatives on August 28. However details of Mirtskhulava?s visit in Moscow remain unknown.
