Parliamentary Session Fails Due to Lack of Quorum
(Tbilisi, June 17 2003, Civil Georgia) – The Georgian Parliament failed to hold a plenary session today because of absence of quorum.
The MPs had to discuss the controversial amendments to the election code. Earlier in the morning the pro-governmental and opposition factions held individual consultations with Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze over the election code.
?I am glad, that we have reached a consensus over a number of issues. Particular positions were fixed, though that is not enough for reaching common consensus,? Burjanadze said.
The Parliamentary Chairperson offered the factions to continue consultations with the representatives of various political parties, including the Revival party.
The Parliament of Georgia today also planned to consider the issues of settlement of the Georgian-Abkhazian conflict.
