Russian Cossacks on High Alert in Abkhazia
(Tbilisi, June 25, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Russian Cossacks living in Georgia’s breakaway province of Abkhazia are on high alert, Abkhaz news agency Apsnipress reported on June 24.
In his statement issued on June 24 leader of the Russian Cossacks in Abkhazia Oleg Petrov says that the decision follows Georgian authorities recent statements “to use force against Abkhazia.”
Petrov Ordered the Cossacks to be on high alert starting from July 1.
