Western Diplomats Briefed on Abkhazia

(Tbilisi, June 27, 2003, Civil Georgia) – The Ambassadors of the United States, Great Britain and Germany today held the meeting with Special Affairs Minister Malkhaz Kakabadze, Secretary of the National Security Council Tedo Japaridze and Georgia’s Ambassador to the UN Revaz Adamia in Tbilisi.

Situation in the Abkhaz conflict zone and the issue of mandate of the Russian peacekeeping troops, deployed in Abkhazia under the auspices of the CIS, was discussed during the meeting.

“I cannot tell you details of the meeting, but I can say that we briefed our partners regarding the talks that we hold with Russia regarding the Abkhaz issue,” Revaz Adamia told the reporters after the meeting.

The United States, Great Britain and Germany are the member states of the UN Secretary General’s Group of Friends on Georgia.
