Burjanadze to Lead New Political Union

(Tbilisi, July 15, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Georgian Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze does not rule out creation of a new political union on the eve of the parliamentary elections.

“Opposition alliance, uniting the United Democrats, the National Movement and the New Rights parties, was most acceptable for me. However they failed to reach an agreement,” Nino Burjanadze said in the interview to the Tbilisi-based Mze TV channel on July 14.

She did not specify what kind of alliance it would be, adding consultations are being held with the opposition parties.

Burjanadze said, she would give detailed information regarding her plans by the end of this week.
