Dozens Injured in Clash between Monarchist and Labor Party Activists

(Tbilisi, August 4, 2003, Civil Georgia) – A protest rally held by the Monarchist Party in front of the opposition Labor Party’s office in Tbilisi on August 4 overgrew into a fist-fighting between the Labor and Monarchist party members.

As a result at least 12 people were injured from the both sides.

The representatives of the Monarchist Party were holding protest rally against MP Pridon Injia, member of the Labor Party, accusing him of misappropriating communication facilities in Georgia.

cial news briefing today Leader of the Labor Party Shalva Natelashvili said the incident was masterminded by his political opponents President Shevardnadze and Leader of the National Movement Mikheil Saakashvili.

The National Moment dismissed accusation as groundless.
