Azeri Citizens Demand Return of Seized Freight

(Tbilisi, August 25, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Dozens of Azeri citizens today continued to rally in front of the State Chancellery of Georgia, demanding the return of their freight, which was seized on August 22 by the Georgian Customs Office.

The Georgian Customs Office seized the freight, mainly mobile phones, on August 22, claiming it was contraband.

The Azeri citizens denied the Georgian customs officers’ allegations that the freight was contraband.
