Burjanadze Dismisses President’s Criticism over Failure to Amend Budget

(Tbilisi, August 25, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze rejected today Shevardnadze’s criticism of the Parliament over the delay to amend the 2003 budget.

“The opposition will support the budget cuts only if the issue of the government’s accountability is discussed,” Nino Burjanadze told reporters.
 
In his radio broadcast on August 25 President Shevardnadze criticized Parliament for its failure to adopt the amendments to the 2003 budget.

onsiders the cutting of budgetary expenditures, the country will lose IMF support in the upcoming talks with the Paris Club.
