Minister Says Sabotage Reason of Current Energy Crisis
(Tbilisi, September 2, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Energy Minister Mamuka Nikolaishvili said “increased number of sabotages is the reason of the current energy crisis in the country and in Tbilisi.”
“On September 1 the power plant number 9 [owned by the Russian Unified Energy Systems] was shut down because of sabotage,” Nikolaishvili said in the interview to the Rustavi 2 TV channel on September 2.
Last month the entire country was blacked out because of sabotage on a high voltage power line in western Georgia.
