Relative of Abkhaz de facto President Shot Dead

(Tbilisi, September 3, 2003, Civil Georgia) – Reports say businessman Levan Ardzinba, cousin of Abkhaz de facto President Vladislav Ardzinba, was shot dead in Gudauta, Abkhazia on September 2.

According to the Georgian daily newspaper, 24 Saati, Levan Ardzinba was involved in the tobacco business in Abkhazia as well as in Russia, and had close ties with Georgian authorities.

The brother of Levan Ardzinba, Aka, was also shot dead earlier this year.
