Maverick MP Joins Pro-Presidential Bloc
MP Guram Sharadze, known for his campaigns against religious minority groups, joined the presidential-backed election alliance and will run for MP in Gldani constituency of capital city Tbilisi.
Guram Sharadze is a close ally and supporter of defrocked extremist Orthodox priest Basil Mkalavishvili, who is wanted by the law enforcers for violent attacks against the religious minorities, especially the Jehovah?s Witnesses.
Koba Davitashvili of the National Movement opposition party and Elene Tevdoradze of the Burjanadze-Democrats opposition election bloc also intend to run for MP in the Gldani constituency.
