Lack of Funds May Pull Georgia out of Rugby World Cup

Georgia?s Rugby World Cup debut in Australia may fail, because of financial problems.

President of the Georgian National Union of Rugby Bidzina Gegidze said Georgian squad may be ejected from the hotel in France, where they are training at the moment, because of a lack of funds.

Moreover, Georgia may pull out of World Cup in Australia, where the squad is to arrive on October 3 and play against England in their first match on October 12, in case some 230,000 Euros is not allocated in the squad?s budget.

It was the most important success of the Georgian sport, when the rugby squad could pave its way to the World Cup. The squad is the first Georgian team in any sport to reach the finals of a world competition.
