Parties Submitted Lists of MP Candidates to CEC

21 political parties and blocs standing in the November 2 parliamentary elections submitted today to the Central Election Commission (CEC) lists of candidates who will run for the MP in the proportional system. October 2 was a deadline for submitting lists.

The presidential-backed election bloc For New Georgia submitted the list of candidates several minutes before the expiration of the deadline.

Former State Minister Vazha Lortkipanidze, Socialists party leader Vakhtang Rcheulishvili, Irina Sarishvili-Chanturia of National-Democratic party, former governor of Kvemo Kartli region Levan Mamaladze, one of the leaders of the Citizens Union of Georgia party Vitali Khazaradze are among the top ten candidates of the pro-presidential election bloc.

Nino Burjanadze, Parliamentary Chairperson leads the list of the Burjanadze-Democrats election bloc. Former Parliamentary Chairman Zurab Zhvania, former Chairman of the Supreme Council (Georgian legislative body in 1991-1992) Akaki Asatiani of the Traditionalists party, Gigi Tsereteli, Vice-Speaker of the Parliament and Eldar Shengelia, Vice-Speaker of the Parliament are among the top ten candidates of the Burjanadze-Democrats election bloc.

MP Koba Davitashvili leads the list of the National Movement party. Leader of the party and Chairman of Tbilisi City Council Mikheil Saakashvili is not in the list. He does not run for MP and remains on the post of the City Council Chairman.

Head of the Adjarian Autonomous Republic Aslan Abashidze leads the list of the Revival Union party.

Davit Gamkrelidze is in the top of the candidates submitted to the CEC by the New Rights Party.

As anticipated, Shalva Natelashvili, leader of the Labor Party is the number one in the party’s list of candidates.
