OSCE Chair Hosts Talks on Georgian-Ossetian Conflict
Negotiations on a comprehensive settlement of the Georgian-Ossetian conflict are taking place in the Hague, under the auspices of the OSCE’s Netherlands Chairmanship.
As the OSCE news release issued on October 16 reads, the Georgian and South Ossetian delegations, together with the Russian, North Ossetian and OSCE mediators, are meeting with an aim to achieve progress in overcoming the consequences of the 1989-1992 conflict.
“The talks will help strengthen the trust in the zone of Georgian-Ossetian conflict and prevent new confrontation between the conflicting sides,” Russian Ambassador at Large Mikhail Maiorov, who is representing the Russian side, said on October 15.
The talks, which started on 14 October, are held within the framework of the 10th Meeting of the Political Experts Group dealing with the issue.
