CEC Chairperson Expects up to 15% Error Rate in Voter Lists
Chairperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Nana Devdariani reiterated in the live interview to the Rustavi 2 TV channel that she expects up to 15% error rate in the voter lists.
“If we are able to finish the work with that figure, this would be the best option under the existing circumstances,” Nana Devdariani said.
Thousands of eligible voters are missing from the lists, while many deceased persons are included. The deadline for correction of the voter lists is October 26.
If a voter’s name is still missing from the final voter lists at that date, the voter may appeal a court until 28 October.
The CEC Chairperson’s statement regarding possible 15% error rate caused the opposition parties protests. The New Rights party leader Davit Gamkrelidze said that this 15% of votes will be used by the presidential-backed election bloc.
“This error rate is big enough to change the whole results of the elections,” Gamkrelidze said.
