Shevardnadze, U.S. Ambassador Discussed Post-election Situation
U.S. Ambassador Richard Miles met today with Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze to discuss the post-election situation in the country.
The U.S. Ambassador delivered the concerns of the United States over the Central Election Commission’s delays in providing a full and accurate vote count and urged the President to take all steps necessary to restore the voter confidence to the process.
“We are counting on President Shevardnadze to ensure the integrity of this election, and thereby bolster the partnership between our two countries,” the U.S. Ambassador said after the meeting with the Georgian President.
