Criminal Charges to be Brought Against Opposition Leaders
Georgian Interior Minister Koba Narchemashvili said today, that the law-enforcement agencies will bring criminal charges against persons, who call for overthrowing the present authorities.
“We have a reason to bring criminal charges against those persons, who call on the population to overthrow the authorities. Such statements are not legally justified,” Narchemashvili told reporters on November 5, however he refrained from naming particular persons against whom the criminal charges are to be brought.
“They can bring charge against us; they can even arrest me. We do not demand anything illegal. We simply urge the authorities to recognize real results [of the elections] and the opposition’s victory in the parliamentary elections,” leader of the Burjanadze-Democrats election bloc Zurab Zhvania said while commenting on the statement of the Interior Minister.
