Shevardnadze Thanked Protesters for Calm

President Shevardnadze in his Monday radiobroadcast thanked the protesters, who rallied last week in front of the Parliament demanding Shevardnadze resignation, for keeping “calm and order.”

“It was an expression of good culture of protesters,” Eduard Shevardnadze said.

“I can say the same in regard of those opposition leaders who staid aside from the protest rallies,” Shevardnadze added, referring to the New Rights, Industrialists and Labor parties, who slammed the anti-governmental demonstration.
