Burjanadze: Threats Over Civil Confrontation Groundless

Nino Burjanadze, the Chairperson of the outgoing Parliament and the opposition leader, said today that there is no threat of civil confrontation in Georgia.

“People confront the authorities now in Georgia and this is not a civil confrontation,” Nino Burjanadze said.

While commenting on the Revival Union’s rally outside the Parliament building, Nino Burjanadze said, that the authorities intend to provoke civil confrontation by this rally.

A couple of thousands of people has gathered in front of the Parliament to protest against the opposition’s demands, which seeks for Shevardnadze’s resignation.

Reportedly there are many policemen among the participants of the rally, dispatched to Tbilisi from Adjara Autonomous Republic.
