Russia Calls for Stability in Georgia

Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov raised concern over the recent situation in Georgia and subjected the November 2 parliamentary elections to criticism.

“Of course, the November 2 parliamentary elections deserve serious criticism. However, we call on President Shevardnadze and the political parties to jointly correct the mistakes made during the elections and act within the frames of the Constitution,” the Russian Foreign Minister said in the interview with CNN on November 18.

He reiterated Russia’s readiness to assist Georgia in every possible way to secure stability in the country.
