President Shevardnadze Intends to Declare State of Emergency
President Shevardnadze told reporters at 19 p.m. on November 22 that he intends to declare the state of emergency in order to restore order in the country.
He said the country avoided bloodshed today. “I asked the Interior Minister not to open fire at the protesters and to avoid bloodshed in the country,” Shevardnadze said.
He said that order should be restored in the country and from now on all the departments should obey the Defense Ministry.
Shevardnadze estimated the recent developments in Georgia as a coup attempt.
